Research Networks

The Portuguese Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (PtCRIN) is the national representative of the European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (ECRIN) Its main mission is the promotion of national and international cooperation’s in clinical research; increasing research quality and therapeutic innovation for the benefit of patients, citizens and health care systems.

In 2014, Portugal joined ECRIN/ERIC - European Research Infrastructures consortium, a formal legal entity, as a founding member along with France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. PtCRIN is the scientific of this European consortium and the PtCRIN Core Team/management office is currently based at Nova Medical School, in Lisbon.

PtCRIN’s specific goals are:

  • Promote more efficient implementation of clinical trials by the Clinical Research Centers.
  • Develop and organize a national network of Clinical Trial Units/Data Centers of high quality as providers of national and international services in the clinical research field.
  • Rise national and international funds for clinical research and for PtCRIN
  • Strengthen PtCRIN as a solid infrastructure and national hub for clinical research for the promotion of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) in clinical trials.
