About the PhD in Health Sciences
The New Doctoral Program aims to be a national and international reference of high quality in Health Sciences, stimulating the development of high quality research projects at international level, promoting interdisciplinarity in this vast and important area of study, taking advanteg of the existing sskills and resources of excellence for its research guidelines: Chronic Diseases and Aging; Population Health and Nutrition; New Cellular and Molecular Therapies.
The cycle of studies leading to the degree of Doctor of Health Sciences enables training based on research and the development of complementary skills in the areas of medicine, biomedicine and related scientific and technological areas, privileging the inter and multidisciplinary to scientific issues with an impact on human health, having as its main foundation the CEDOC - Chronic Diseases Research Centre and the Research Units financed by the FCT to its affiliates, iNOVA4Health, CHRC and ToxOmics.
Course Details
The PhD in Health Sciences can be carried out in thef following specialities: Medicine and Biomedicine.
The essence of the program is to continue to the formation of excellence in these scientific areas of recognized merit, and considered strategic for the scientific and technological development of NMS, promoting synergies and maximizing the complementary of the existing technical and methodological resources, reinforcing collaboration between basic and clinical science. In this context, the student in the ambit of this project will be the catalyser for this strategy, being integrated into a Community of Researchers.

Admission Requirements

Medicine: Bachelor's degree, master's degree or equivalent in Medicine;
Biomedicine: Bachelor's degree, master's degree or equivalent in Dentistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry, Nursing Physiotherapy, Health Technologies, or other areas of Health Sciences.
Selection criteria

Applications that meet the admission requirements will be analyzed, evaluated, selected and graded by the Jury, through a Curriculum analysis and after an individual interview with each candidate.
