On January 12, NOVA Medical School hosted the WHEATBIOME project consortium meeting, an initiative that brings together 15 partners from different countries with a common goal: to understand the potential of the wheat microbiome in developing healthier, more sustainable, and more resilient wheat-based products.
The meeting focused mainly on coordination between partners, sharing progress on tasks, and preparing the second periodic report on the project. During the meeting, the partners analyzed how the consortium has responded to the evaluators' recommendations, identified new risks and respective mitigation measures, and aligned upcoming activities.
The WHEATBIOME project, funded by the European Union, aims to contribute to more sustainable agricultural practices, improve the nutritional value and resilience of wheat, reduce food waste, and develop innovative solutions that support farmers and consumers in making healthier choices.
By hosting this meeting, NOVA Medical School reinforces its commitment to collaborative research, scientific innovation, and the development of more sustainable and health-promoting food systems.
