NMS hosts ten start ups that aim to change the future of health

This initiative is supported by EIT Health, an European network of innovation and entrepreneurship in health.

NOVA Medical School (NMS) organized, this Wednesday, November 2nd, an important event of innovation in health: an initiative that integrates the agenda of the Healthcare Investor Forum, promoted by EIT Health Innostars. EIT Health is a European collaborative network that integrates 280 best-in-class partners that establish the triangle of education-business-innovation, to which are associated thousands of start-ups ups and entrepreneurs, sharing knowledge to respond to  needs in health ares, through technological and digital solutions.

The Dean of NOVA Medical School – Helena Canhão, highlights that “the participation of NMS, through NOVA University of Lisbon, as a partner in the EIT Health network, demonstrates our strategy and positioning: we are a Medical School based on innovation in 3 pillars of action - education, research and community - that aims to share its knowledge and skills with the main international players in the health area. We have collaborative projects in ​​technological innovation, but we intend to increase this axis of action by opening the doors of NOVA Medical School to other partners and start-ups.”

The same commitment is assumed by the Vice-Dean for Research – Patrícia Calado. “Innovation is part of our DNA. The Networking Cocktail organization, had the great purpose of fostering collaborations and synergies between academic institutions, companies and entrepreneurs.”

The event organized by the Head of Innovation at NMS Rita Rocha, was attended by the new Regional Director of EIT Health Innostars, Ferenc Pongracz, accompanied by several members of the management team. 60 guests from different sectors of society participated, with about a third coming from other European countries. “Complementary skills are key to the success of innovation ecosystems. These ecosystems need to be dynamic, so networking events like those we organize at NOVA Medical School are fundamental to promote sustainability and the impact of innovation ecosystems, like EIT Health”, concludes Patrícia Calado.
