Universidade NOVA de Lisboa celebrates 50 years

As part of a higher education expansion and diversification structure, NOVA has adopted, since its foundation, a structural model considered new in the Portuguese university context.

This structure was organized according to a departmental and interdisciplinary model, associated with Technology, simultaneously with Social and Human Sciences and Medical Sciences.

In this context, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa has played a fundamental role in responding to a growing need for higher education in Portugal, in general, and in the Lisbon region, in particular.

NOVA is a decentralized University, which means that its Faculties and Institutes enjoy a high degree of autonomy.

It currently has more than 20,077 enrolled students and a total of 1,800 professors and researchers.

In this year of celebration, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa will organize various activities to take place in all its organic units and which will be announced shortly on its social networks.

“We want this to be a different year, marked by various academic and cultural initiatives and we count on everyone's participation to celebrate our University together.” He highlighted the Rector of NOVA, João Sàágua, in his New Year's message.
