Psychiatrist, Ph.D. in Neurophysiology; Full Professor of the Nova Medical School / Faculty of Medical Sciences of the NOVA University of Lisbon; Head of Department of Medical Physiology.
 
Graduated in Medicine, has a sub-specialty in Clinical Neurophysiology and the Specialty of Psychiatry.
Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the NOVA University of Lisbon and the Aggregation in this same Faculty.

He has developed research in the areas of Physiology and Pathophysiology of the Nervous System.

Scientific Director of CADIn (Center for Support to Neurodevelopment and Inclusion), in Cascais between 2005 and 2015.
Head of Fundamentals of Neurosciences at NOVA Medical School / Faculty of Medical Sciences of Universidade Nova de Lisboa between 2012 and 2016.
Head of Medical Physiology at NOVA Medical School / Faculty of Medical Sciences of Universidade Nova de Lisboa since 2015.
Clinical Director of the Portuguese Association for Developmental Disorders and Autism (A.P.P.D.A.), Lisbon.

Over the past twenty years, his interest has been directed primarily at Neurophysiology, Psychopathology, and Clinics of Developmental Disorders and at the manifestations of Developmental Disorders in adults.
