Inflamação e Neurodegeneração

O principal interesse do nosso laboratório é avaliar a contribuição das células imunes periféricas na patogênese de doenças neurodegenerativas, cardiovasculares, genéticas e infecciosas.

A ativação de respostas imunes inatas e adaptativas é um mecanismo de defesa, desencadeado contra estímulos que comprometem a integridade dos tecidos afetados. Na última década, foi demonstrado que a imunidade e a inflamação desempenham um papel importante em uma variedade de distúrbios patológicos, incluindo doenças neurodegenerativas, cardiovasculares, genéticas e infecciosas. O principal interesse do nosso laboratório é avaliar a contribuição das células imunes periféricas na patogênese dessas doenças. Tendo em conta o cross-talk entre inflamação e metabolismo de ferro, nosso objetivo é também entender as consequências fisiopatológicas, que resultam da alterações da homeostasia do hemo e do ferro.
