Research at NOVA Medical School exceeds the national average in the 2023 FCT call for Exploratory Projects

The final results for the 2023 Call for Exploratory Projects in All Scientific Domains (PeX) from Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) were released last week. Among the fifteen proposals submitted, NOVA Medical School has secured funding for five PeX projects, all as host institution, corresponding to a 33,3% success rate (above the national average – 22,5%).

The awarded postdoctoral researchers from NOVA Medical School are:

NOVA Medical School results will represent a maximum of 250,000 euros to fund scientific research projects in four of its eight research areas: Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism; Nutrition and Food Science; Retina and Vision; and Health Promotion and Care.

At the national level, 403 PeX projects will be supported by national funds through the FCT budget, which corresponds to an investment of around 20 million euros. The projects will have a duration of 18 months and maximum funding of 50,000 euros.
