Professor Amar Bhide, internationally recognized for his contributions in the areas of economics, entrepreneurship and strategy, was at NOVA Medical School on June 5 and 6, where he hosted sessions and debates that promoted critical thinking, interdisciplinarity and innovation in medical training.

Over these two days, students, teachers and researchers had the opportunity to reflect on the ethical, economic and strategic challenges of contemporary medical practice, in a wide-ranging dialog that went beyond traditional clinical content and encouraged a more holistic view of medicine.

Professor Amar Bhide's visit is part of NOVA Medical School's strategy of internationalization and inter-institutional collaboration, reinforcing the school's commitment to a training approach that integrates medicine, social sciences and economics. This visit was also an opportunity to mobilize the academic community around a more critical and dynamic vision of medical training, aligned with the challenges of a world in constant transformation.

With a remarkable academic and professional career, Amar Bhide is currently Professor of Economics at Tufts University in the United States. He has a doctorate in Business Administration from Harvard Business School, has also taught at this institution and at the University of Chicago, and has worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company and as a manager at E.F. Hutton.

Author of reference works such as The Origin and Evolution of New Businesses and A Call for Judgment, Professor Bhide highlighted, during his time at NOVA Medical School, the importance of human discernment and decision-making in uncertain contexts - skills that are increasingly central to clinical practice, health management and leadership in complex environments.
