NMS offers free Nutrition & Gut Health consultations on World Microbiome Day

22-Jun-2023

In celebration of World Microbiome Day, which takes place on June 27th, NOVA Medical School will be offering free Nutrition & Gut Health consultations to all visitors at the Faculty. These consultations will focus on evaluating various gastrointestinal conditions and providing personalized nutritional approaches tailored to the needs of each patient.

The microbiome, consisting of a complex community of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi, plays a crucial role in digestion, metabolism, and the immune system. The gut is an essential organ for maintaining proper nutritional status and, consequently, good overall health. In the gut, nutrient digestion and absorption occur, and it is also vital for the development of the immune system.

However, various gastrointestinal disorders, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), celiac disease, and food intolerances, require a specific nutritional approach to modulate the gut microbiota.

  • The free Nutrition & Gut Health consultations will take place on June 27, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, in the Clinical Trials Room, located in the Library Building of NOVA Medical School.
