Clinical Abdominal Ultrasound Course

The 2024 edition of the Clinical Abdominal Ultrasound Training Course will begin in October and is the result of a joint initiative between the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra (FMUC) and NOVA Medical School (NMS). This course aims to enable students to acquire or improve their technical skills in ultrasound imaging.

The course is aimed at doctors or medical students with an interest in acquiring knowledge, technical skills and experience in the use of ultrasound scanners and probes; in the identification of pathologies through ultrasound images; and in the practice of obtaining ultrasound images in the abdominal region, incorporating the knowledge acquired into clinical practice.

The training course has a total duration of 40 hours (1.5 ECTS), divided into 30 hours of asynchronous online modules and 10 hours of face-to-face practical sessions taught by specialist radiology lecturers from the partner institutions.

The practical sessions include demonstrations of abdominal ultrasound using a robotic tele-echography tool and practical exercises in ultrasound image collection using a probe and an ultrasound scanner. At the end of the training course, successful students can apply for a certificate issued by the University of Coimbra.

The course costs €200 for eligible participants, and there are a limited number of places. The official language of the course is English.

There's 50 Mobility Grants to be awarded by NOVA Medical School. Check the Regulation of the EIT Health TrainR4U - 2024 Grant scholarship here.
