The PDial project, led by Sofia Azeredo Pereira, principal investigator at NOVA Medical School, recently reached the top 10 in the NOVA ImpACT! Challenge, a competition that offers teams the opportunity to realize innovative projects with significant social impact.
PDial (Peritoneal Dialysis) aims to improve the results of peritoneal dialysis by studying and identifying new biomarkers, being that an essential therapy for kidney replacement that offers patients greater autonomy and quality of life.
The team from the Renal, Cardiovascular and Metabolic Pharmacology research group aims not only to create a biobank of high-quality biological samples from dialysis effluents at NOVA Medical School's CHAIN Biobank for research projects, but also to increase visibility of the characteristics and advantages of peritoneal dialysis through the future organization of various scientific events and the creation of the International Peritoneal Dialysis Day.
The significant impact of this project reflects the institution's commitment to solutions that transform clinical practice and improve patients' quality of life.
