NOVA Medical School welcomed 45 new students who are part of the third edition of the PhD in Health and Wellness Sciences and Technologies (DCTSBE) — an innovative program developed in association with the National School of Public Health and the University of Évora.
Lasting six semesters, the DCTSBE offers three areas of specialization—Health and Technologies, Nursing, and Health and Wellness Sciences—and stands out for its multidisciplinary approach and strong link between scientific research and clinical practice.
The program is coordinated by Professors André Rosário (NOVA Medical School), Sónia Dias (National School of Public Health), and Manuel Lopes (University of Évora).
Classes are held on a rotating basis between partner institutions, allowing doctoral students to experience different academic and scientific contexts, promoting knowledge sharing and fostering a collaborative research network.
DCTSBE has established itself as a benchmark program, recognized for the high competitiveness of its applicants and the relevance of its research areas. The diversity of the academic backgrounds of the new doctoral students—who come from fields such as medicine, nursing, physical therapy, and public health, among others—reflects the interdisciplinary spirit that characterizes the program.
The opening session was attended by representatives from partner institutions and marked by the launch of the book “Pensas que Só Acontece aos Outros?! Narrativa e análise crítica de um percurso de doença oncológica” (Do you think it only happens to others?! Narrative and critical analysis of a cancer journey), written by Professor Manuel Lopes.
