PhD in Biomedicine attracts unprecedented number of applicants

The 11th edition of the PhD in Biomedicine (bMED) program, developed in partnership between NOVA Medical School and the University of Aveiro, has officially begun, with the largest class ever enrolled this year.

This edition highlights the diversity and scientific richness of the program, bringing together doctoral students with backgrounds ranging from Medicine, Biochemistry, and Pharmacy to Biomedical Research, Neurobiology, Medical Microbiology, and Molecular Genetics, a set of profiles that reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the course and its commitment to the major challenges in health.

bMED stands out for its flexibility and the opportunity it offers each student to develop scientific and methodological skills in a collaborative, dynamic environment supported by excellent infrastructure. This joint experience broadens academic and professional horizons, fosters networking, and encourages the creation of research projects with a real impact on science and society.

At NOVA Medical School, the program is coordinated by the Vice Dean for Research, Professor Paula Macedo, and Professor Sofia Pereira, while at the University of Aveiro, coordination is handled by Professor Rui Gonçalo Martinho.
