Nutrition Shark Tank 2025

NOVA Medical School is promoting the 2nd edition of Nutrition Shark Tank, an event that transforms the classroom into a stage for opportunities. Inspired by the famous TV format Shark Tank, this initiative challenges final year Nutrition Science students to present innovative projects in front of a panel of representatives from leading companies - the "sharks".

The Nutrition Shark Tank is a collaboration between NOVA Medical School and Nova SBE's Health Economics & Management Knowledge Centre, and aims to bring emerging talent closer to the labour market. Students are challenged to demonstrate their entrepreneurial spirit and apply scientific knowledge to practical solutions for real challenges in the health sector.

During the session, five groups - out of a total of 28 finalists - will present their ideas to representatives from companies such as CUF, Nestlé, AGEAS, Multicare, Eurest, Jerónimo Martins, SUCH, Sonae, Sumol Compal, Gel Peixe, Fundação Mendes Gonçalves, Sport Lisboa e Benfica, among others. The proposals will be put to the test by the “sharks” and at the end, the entire audience will have the opportunity to vote for the best pitch/project presented.

The event will be led by Professor Francisco Goiana da Silva, who will begin with a short talk with Professor Pedro Pita Barros on the topic of “Frontline Talk: The Future of Health”. 


The hosts of the event will be Professor Conceição Calhau, coordinator of the Degree in Nutrition Sciences at NOVA Medical School, and Professor Pedro Pita Barros, one of the country's most renowned economists and Professor at Nova SBE.
