15-Sep-2025

Today marked the beginning of the 7th edition of the International Doctorate in Health Sciences at NOVA Medical School, which offers two specializations: Medicine and Biomedicine. Of the available places, 10 are reserved exclusively for scholarship holders from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), all of which have been filled in this edition.

Coordinated by Professor Miguel Seabra, the doctoral program—taught in English and on a part-time basis—brings together students from diverse academic and geographical backgrounds, including China.

The doctoral program is a national and international benchmark for advanced training in Health Sciences, aiming to foster high-quality research projects, promote interdisciplinarity, and leverage the School's resources and areas of excellence.

The research lines cover strategic areas such as Chronic Diseases and Aging, Population Health and Nutrition, and Novel Cellular and Molecular Therapies. The study cycle focuses on research-based training, spanning from fundamental biomedical sciences to translational, clinical, and epidemiological research, with a direct impact on human health.
