On October 23, NOVA Medical School – Advanced Health Education | Health Campus, in Carcavelos, hosted the inauguration of the third installment of the exhibition “Mily Possoz. A Poetics of Space,” bringing together dozens of guests for the presentation of the works.
Curated by Emília Ferreira and co-organized by the D. Luís I Foundation, this is the third part of a three-part exhibition that is also being held at the Millennium bcp Gallery, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, and MU.SA – Museum of the Arts of Sintra. The Carcavelos section displays around 50 works, particularly seascapes, from the MNAC, family archives, Hotel Tivoli, Almada City Council, and private collections. Together, they provide a complementary view of how Mily Possoz approached space in her work.
The exhibition, which includes paintings, drawings, engravings, and tapestries, will be open until January 26, 2026, on weekdays between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., except on December 15 and January 23 and 24.
This core concludes the exhibition cycle that began on October 1 at the Millennium bcp Gallery and continued at MU.SA, displaying a total of around 250 works by the artist, including studies, preparatory works, and final pieces. A volume containing around 100 images and 11 previously unpublished essays by national and international experts will be published shortly under the same title.
With a career marked by innovation and artistic independence, Mily Possoz (1888-1968) is considered one of the creators of Portuguese modernism, having exhibited individually and collectively in Portugal and abroad, and continuing to surprise with her originality and unique vision of the female universe and landscape.
