Clinical Research Centres

NMS seeks to be at the forefront of medical education, grounded on clinical research and a culture that seeks diversity and critical thinking in order to improve the health and quality of life of the Portuguese.

NMS works with several health units, which allows students to benefit from a variety of educational locations and a comprehensive and inclusive knowledge of the hospital and primary health care reality.

Named Academic Clinical Centre of Lisbon (CCAL – Centro Clínico Académico de Lisboa), created in 2015 as Lisbon University Medical Center (CMUL - Centro Médico Universitário de Lisboa) between the NMS and the Lisbon Central University Hospital Center (CHUCL - Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Lisboa Central) has been extended to more institutions CHLO, CHPL , ENSP, ARSLVT – Central Lisbon, Loures/Odivelas and Western Lisbon and Oeiras (ACES de Lisboa Central, Loures/Odivelas e Lisboa Ocidental e Oeiras). This Centre offers a better and more integrated clinical education to the NMS’s students, providing the best conditions of continuous training for professionals while promoting a scientific approach consistent with care practice.

Under the scope of the CCAL, there are several Clinical Research Centres that develop their activity and clinical research and that bring together teams that include NMS professors, in an outstanding work of innovation and knowledge creation for the benefit of the health of the future.
