The mission of the Lab Management Office (NGL) at NOVA Medical School is to ensure the efficient, safe, and sustainable operation of the laboratory resources at the institution. Through an integrated and multidisciplinary approach, the NGL fosters a culture of best laboratory practices, operational innovation, and environmental responsibility, maintaining a continuous commitment to quality and excellence across all the strategic pillars of the school: Education, Research and Community.
Our Aims:
- Ensure the operability of laboratory infrastructures, overseeing the management of equipment, consumables, and procurement.
- Reorganize and maintain laboratory spaces, including the internal supply system and the washing and sterilization sector, essential for the daily functioning of the laboratories.
- Promote sustainability, with a strong focus on My Green Lab certification, responsible management of waste and energy resources, and the implementation of environmentally friendly laboratory practices.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and laboratory safety through training sessions, procedural manuals, and systematic monitoring of operational conditions.
- Facilitate the integration of new researchers and students, providing structured onboarding and proper access to laboratory resources.
- Coordinate critical operations, such as material sterilization, hazardous waste management, cold storage infrastructure, and the logistics of national and international transport and customs clearance.
- Foster continuous improvement and innovation by implementing solutions that enhance operational efficiency and the quality of services provided to the scientific community.
