Health Promotion and Care

The Health and Promotion research area at NMS is where core skills in epidemiology, public health, clinical medicine, social sciences, and applied information technologies converge. The NMS researchers who work in this research area have broad interests ranging from aging, mental health, nutrition, infectious diseases, cardiometabolic health, and occupational and environmental health, all of which cut across most areas of NMS. This research area is critical to changing policies, organizations, healthcare, and behaviors to achieve healthier populations and healthier individuals. This research can be carried out at individual and population levels, in NMS, in hospitals or in the community, with very localized or broader implications. The overall aim of this research area is to improve one or more dimensions of health and health determinants throughout the life cycle.
